There are a lot of weather forecasting websites, but the Met Office holds its own with a very easy to use offering that is uncluttered by pop-up advertising and unnessary additional information. Rather, they pitch it just right with quality weather forecast information that is easily accessible.
The Met Office does not just cater for the UK, but also covers Europe and the rest of the World. They also provide weather services for the Aviation and Marine industries, to which timely and accurate weather forecasting is absolutely essential.
It is interesting to see how big an emphasis the Met Office puts on their climate change section. In fact the Hadley Centre is leading international research into climate change and what could happen under climate change, assessing the impacts on future generations.
There are climate projections, climate monitoring data sets and a wealth of news and information on the subject.
So what about those of us who just want to find out if it will be raining tomorrow. Well the Met Office does a good job on this with the regional forecast section. There's a written summary of the outlook, but the main tool is an excellent interactive graphic which will animate or let you step through the three day forecast.
Tabs allow you to select which information is presented in this display, the default is simply "weather", and our familiar cloud sun and rain icons, but you have the option to filter by rainfall, cloud cover, temperature, pressure, wind, UV and severe weather warnings.
