Property for sale and rent both in the UK and overseas, RightMove has over one million properties listed for sale throughout the UK. Houses, flats, retirement homes, new homes, overseas moves, everything is catered for via a very effective search.
Simply start by searching for a City, Region or a Postcode, then refine your search by entering as few or many additional search criteria as you want, such as price range, new or resale homes, the type of property, number of rooms, radius of search etc.
You can order your search results by price, or by search radius. Estate agents advertise their properties on RightMove and generally include all the information you could want on the particulars. There are usually four or more photographs, a summary description, and full details and dimensions of all the rooms, garden and garages.
An interactive map is available to show the location, and local information including the nearest train station is displayed. Private sales are also common these days, to avoid estate agents fees.
You can fill in a short form to contact the agent should you be interested in a property, or phone them directly. The website is exceptionally clear and simple to use, and a very similar system applies for rental property. The search criteria are slightly different but the rest is the same.
New homes are well catered for, and you can search specifically for new properties from a variety of developers. Particulars are surprisingly detailed, with artist impressions instead of photographs in most cases.
Of particular interest is the House Prices section, where you can find out what houses have sold for over recent years within a given postcode area. A valuable research tool, or just for being nosey.
RightMove also provides buying and selling guides, and email alerts to notify you of new properties that meet your criteria as they are added. The sheer number of properties makes RightMove the main choice in this sector, and paired with the easy to use website it is a winning formula.
